Microplastics Awareness Day
Join Saratoga High School Senior and District Five Youth Task Force Appointee Urmila Vudali for an informational webinar on Microplastics on Microplastics Awareness Day.

Inconspicuous plastic debris, called “microplastics”, are small plastic particles smaller than 55mm or ⅕ inch in length. They originate from non-biodegradable plastic, automobile tires, cosmetics, synthetic fabrics, breaking down into these small particles that can infiltrate waterways and ecosystems.

Microplastics have become a major environmental and health concern because of their widespread presence in natural ecosystems and various organisms. Because microplastics typically find their way into wastewater systems and runoff from rainfall, they are especially prevalent in marine environments.
